That girl has the Travel Bug!

I’ll be honest. Generally speaking, yes, I do have the travel bug. It is in my bones. But it is more than just that. Sure, I want to see everything that I possibly can in this beautiful world that we call our home, but there is also a tug on my heart that continues to lead me away from home. We as Christians have been given a goal for our lives, a mission if you will. When Jesus Christ ascended to heaven He told us to spread the word of His love and life to the ends of the world. And can you believe that we have not completed that mission even after 2,000 years? There are people in our world today who have never even heard of the name of Jesus. I’m not saying that they merely brushed it off and chose not to listen, I’m saying that they’ve never even had the opportunity because no one has brought the Good News to them.

That is what drives me away from home. Yes, there are many people out there doing long-term missions and working with different people groups, but why does that mean that I shouldn’t use the time and effort that I can give to help further this mission.

That is why I am praying and hoping to be on a plane again in mid July. Nothing is set in stone yet, but I am working through the application to travel again, this time to Africa.

The first thing that I want to tell you about this trip is that it is a two week trip. No, I am not leaving for a number of months yet again. In fact, I will be going back to school in the Fall at the Reno/Tahoe campus of Multnomah University. The reason that I wanted to tell you about the time frame is because it shows that anyone can be a missionary!

Not only can you be a missionary, but you can help further God’s mission. Upon becoming accepted to this trip I would be helping to facilitate a workshop for Bible Translation. Working with Bible Translation usually requires a degree in Linguistics and years in the field, but I love the concept of this: normal people using a gateway language to help others bring the Gospel to their people in their own heart language. And who better to bring God’s Word to a language than a native speaker?

Please be praying for me as I am still in the midst of the application process. Please pray that God leads and guides me in the path He has chosen for me and that if I am accepted that He will provide for all of my needs. I am very excited to see where this journey takes me!
